BULLPUPS Jr. Peewee and
Support Personal have Larger than Life Experience in Aloha Stadium!

11.20.2006-- The
BULLPUPS Jr. Peewee had a larger
than life experience this past Sunday in
Aloha Stadium Vs- the Broncos of Kahaluu. Our Jr. Peewee were invited to
play in a Goodwill game against the Broncos which was initially scheduled
to be played at Moanalua High School. About a week after committing to
play in the game at Moanalua High School against the Broncos, head coach
Sean Lunasco was informed by Melanie Hatchie (BULLPUPS President) that
the game had been moved to Aloha Stadium. "Coach Sean was really excited
to hear the great news, he informed his team a day after and the
excitement radiated from that point on," said Hatchie.
Unfortunately,
our BULLPUPS came up short against the Broncos 13-6. "We played a tough
game against the Broncos, on offense we moved the ball really well and the
defense was solid too. The kids played hard and never gave up, in fact we
scored our lone touch down on the last play of the game when quarterback
#15 Mana Elmore tossed the ball to #58 Aaron Isala around the right side
for about a 30 yard scoring run!" said Lunasco. "It was also pretty awesome
to have many added informational references for playing a football game in
Aloha Stadium like; really visible field lines, hash marks, 1 yard
increment lines, replay monitor (Jumbotron), game clocks, etc. the only
thing missing was the play clock," added
Lunasco. Our kids also performed
their "Haka" taught to them by Danilo Cabias, Jr.
before the game and after the game. This South Pacific Pre-War chant/dance
(growing in popularity throughout Hawaii) for football is really symbolic
towards the game as it's purpose is to intimidate the opponent before the
battle takes place.
This larger than life experience hit most of the kids
when they were heading to the locker room having step foot on the sport
turf for the first time in their young lives not to mention just having a
view from the field into the stands and the sheer size of the structure
surrounding the football field. Only Aaron Isala played in the Stadium before of the whole team
back when he was in 3rd grade being a 6th grader this year. Coach Max,
Paki and Jud played in it amongst the adults but for the rest of us it was
our first time too and we must admit it truly was an overwhelming
experience. The kids, coaches and all support personal who had access on
the field headed to the locker room to get settled.

#58 A. Isala, 4-year player
(pictured right running the ball) has been playing at the Jr. Peewee level
in Waialua since 2003.
The locker room was also an experience in itself,
each kid had their own roomy locker open space, several chalk boards
were there for coaches to use, it was air conditioned, clean and showers
were available.
Everyone who experienced being on the field in Aloha
Stadium will surely never forget this larger than life experience and we
would like to thank the following for providing us the opportunity; Oahu
Pop Warner for inviting us to play, the Kahaluu Broncos & our President
Melanie Hatchie. We also would like to send a big mahalo to our parents,
fellow association football members and fans for their continued positive
support. Special mahalo's to our on field support personal who helped more
often than not all year long; Cheer Girls, Heidi Apau, Leslene Lele,
Michele Lunasco, Tammy Escorzon, Nelson Ng, Bunny Ng & Mark Pao.
